Date: Friday, July 24
Location: Boiler Room
Kicking off on July 24, 2015, Alabama on Alabama is a month long journey to the soul of the Modern South, held in the Boiler Room and showroom at Heath in San Francisco. Refined, raw and radical, the Modern South has a connectedness to place, people and tradition that gets you thinking, and sticks in your consciousness.
In the Boiler Room, you'll see the work of the widely acclaimed and celebrated textile artist, designer and slow design creative pioneer Natalie Chanin of Alabama Chanin. You'll also get to discover the work of Butch Anthony, best known for his ‘intertwangled” paintings and creations using found objects and materials and John Henry Toney, an outsider artist extraordinaire. Alabama on Alabama also features the work of frequent Natalie Chanin collaborator and photographer Rinne Allen.
Get into the mood with a Southern-themed kickoff celebration. Can't make the celebration or want to go deeper? Come to a trunk show hosted by Natalie, featuring Alabama Chanin’s one-of-a-kind items; join a special workshop featuring long-time friends and collaborators Natalie and Catherine Bailey, owner and Creative Director at Heath; screenings, lectures, and more.
Delve deep into the soul of the South.
