Selected Works by Carla Fernández
Yucatán & Campeche

Sewing machines were introduced to the Yucatan when the Spanish conquered Mexico, and the indigenous artisans became extremely skilled in their use, creating ornate, intricate floral embroidery. In Campeche, Carla works with traditional artisans skilled in hand-knotting. This technique, typically used to make hammocks, has found a new life as part of Carla’s designs for dresses and more.
